Processing of Minerals and Fillers

Metallic hydroxyl groups on mineral surfaces are typically hydrophilic and incompatible with organic polymers. Alkoxysilanes are naturally suited for treating mineral surfaces, making them more compatible and dispersible in polymers, and even converting fillers into reinforcing additives. In addition to their use in plastics, the use of silane-modified minerals in organic rubbers is becoming increasingly important.
